More than 55 Democrats have called for Governor Cuomo to resign amid the nursing home deaths scandal and accusations of sexual harassment.
In a message, Cuomo’s fellow Democrats said, “he has lost the support of the public and lawmakers, making him ineffective at this urgent time,” according to the NY Post.
“The Lieutenant Governor can take over for the rest of the term, and this is better for us all,” the group of Democrats continued, saying, “It is time for Governor Andrew Cuomo to resign.”
Assembly Speaker Carl Heastie (D-Bronx) then said the Governor would meet with members to discuss “possible paths forward.”
This week, a sixth woman stepped forward with allegations of sexual misconduct against Governor Cuomo, claiming he touched her inappropriately at the governor’s mansion.
Times-Union said the alleged victim, whose identity was not revealed, is an Executive Chamber staff member.
Meanwhile, mainstream outlets like NBC, CBS, ABC, CNN, and MSNBC ignored the allegations, according to Breitbart.
During an interview this week on Fox News, Rep. Elise Stefanik (R-NY) spoke about the momentum to impeach Cuomo for the cover-up of nursing home deaths and sexual misconduct accusations.
Stefanik said the nursing-home coverup was “obstruction of justice and a federal crime,” and requested Democrats join Republicans and start impeachment proceedings.
