President Joe Biden is “putting America last” with his border policy push and with all his executive orders that have been signed over his first week in office, Mark Meadows, who served as chief of staff for former President Donald Trump, said Wednesday.
“The Biden administration has been setting records with their executive orders,” Meadows said on Fox News’ “Fox & Friends.” “I mean, President Trump put America first. What we’re seeing is that President Biden is putting America last and whether it’s our border policy or any of the other executive orders that he is putting forth, it’s going to have a real chilling effect on jobs.”
Biden’s rapid moves, he added, will “backfire” because they will end up lowering wages on Main Street America, while Trump’s policies “actually increased wages, perhaps by the largest amount that we have seen in decades.”
Meanwhile, Democrats are making impeaching Trump a priority, said Meadows, but he thinks “we are focused more” on the events of Jan. 6, including the rally and rioting at the Capitol, than what America should be focused on.
“As we are going forward, hopefully we will get beyond that,” he said.
He also pointed out that 45 Senate Republicans voted Tuesday to declare Trump’s second impeachment unconstitutional.
Meadows also said a federal judge “got it right” by issuing a temporary restraining order Tuesday to stop the Biden administration from enforcing a 100-day moratorium on deportations and criticizing a potential move to repurpose up to $10 billion in Federal Emergency Management Agency funding for COVID-19 toward climate change projects.
“When most people got up this morning, they didn’t look at it and say that their number one priority was climate,” said Meadows. “They probably looked at it as the virus.”
Meanwhile, there is still “overwhelming support” for Trump’s policies, Meadows said, but it will be up to him to decide in upcoming months if he wants to run for president again.
