Elon Musk Breaks With Trump, Supports This GOP Candidate Instead

Elon Musk complimented Florida Republican Governor Ron DeSantis on Wednesday as the candidate he wants to see become the next president of the United States, but he didn’t commit fully.

Musk made his comment after tweeting that he had supported the Republican candidate who made history in Texas this Tuesday night.

“I cast my vote for Mayra Flores, the first time I’ve ever voted for the GOP,” Musk wrote on Twitter. “A massive red wave in 2022.”

“DeSantis,” responded Elon Musk when asked who he was leaning toward supporting for the 2024 presidential election.

“I backed Yang in the last election, but DeSantis has a better chance of winning,” Musk said.

Musk recently doubled down on his support for the Republican Party during the midterm election because of how he was treated by Democrats.

“I believe in free speech, but not any single candidate. I actually donated to and voted for Hillary before voting for Biden. However, given unprovoked assaults by prominent Democrats on me and an icy shoulder to Tesla and SpaceX, I intend to vote Republican in November.”

Elon Musk said in May that he will vote Republican this November, despite the fact that he has “voted largely for Democrats previously.”

“I wasn’t sure whether or not I would have ever vote for a Republican, to be honest,” Musk said. “Now I will.”

“I think the Democrat Party is controlled by unions. They’re just another form of monopoly,” Musk said. “And class-action attorneys.”

Elon Musk said he had voted for the Democratic Party in the past, but he could no longer do so moving forward.

“I previously voted for the Democrats since they were (largely) a more kind party,” Musk wrote. “However, they have evolved into the divisive and hateful party, thus I can no longer support them and will instead vote Republican. Now watch as their underhanded tactics are used to try to discredit me.”
