First Lady Jill Biden is now readying for a crucial role in the upcoming midterms, announcing that she is hiring a new communications specialist to help her with messaging when it comes to the Democratic policy.
Axios reported that her office has hired Kelsey Donahue to join the East Wing team. An alum of the Obama White house, Donahue was the assistant press secretary for Michelle Obama’s, as reported on her LinkedIn profile.
Donahue will oversee Joe Biden’s digital media efforts and help push public engagement communications, as reported by Axios.
Michael LaRosa, the first lady’s spokesman, said to Axios “We are very excited for Kelsey to join us!” There are currently three people in the first lady’s comms team, according to the news outlet.
Donahue is currently working for social media giant Snap Inc., and previously was the director of comms at the Harvard’s Institute of Politics.
Jill Biden has before tried to help her husband in his daily engagements, although with not so good success.
As we reported, during the 2020 campaign she went to the Twin Cities, making stops in the city of St. Paul and talking to supporters in Minneapolis to support her husband’s presidential run.
Drawing what one outlet said was “a small, but energized group of women called ‘Women for Biden,’” at her latest stop, Jill Biden seemed to be happy to be in her husband’s stead while supporting his political agenda.
In April 2021 she went to California in a go to a vaccination site for farmworkers created to encourage others to join the national mass covid vaccination program.
Video of her trying to speak Spanish to around 100 farmers during her stop in Delano got almost as much attention as the flag that gave the backdrop.
It is clear that Joe Biden is struggling to deal with his many mistakes in only one year in office. As the midterms approach and with Democrats sinking in the polls faster than the Titanic, Jill Biden is pulling out all the stops and expanding her team to deal with the up-hill battle her husband faces. It is going to be fun watching her fail.
