Immigration has emerged as the biggest issue concerning voters.

A new Reuters/Ipsos poll shows that 20% of registered voters believe that immigration is the “most important problem facing the U.S. today.”

Among Republican voters, the issue is a sky high 37% and tops a list of 13 choices.

For Democrats, healthcare is the top concern with just 7% worried about immigration, the latest example of the partisan divide over President Trump’s efforts to stop the explosion of illegal immigration at the U.S.-Mexico border.

Among “all adults,” healthcare and immigration share the top spot of concern in the poll at 19%.

The administration this week announced another record-breaking surge of immigrants apprehended at the border and it is expected that more than 1 million will be caught this year. Officials estimate that just half of those attempting to enter the United States are seized.
