Ocasio-Cortez Under Fire for Accusing Nancy Pelosi of Race-Card Politics

‘What a weak argument … Unbelievable … Four people, four votes out of 240 — who cares,’ a fellow House Democrat raged about AOC

Rep. William Lacy Clay (D-Mo.) ripped into Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-N.Y.) and her progressive sisters for their continuing feud with House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.).

The House Democrat, who is black, claimed “their ignorance is beyond belief” for playing the “race card.”

Said Clay, “What a weak argument. Because you can’t get your way and because you’re getting pushback, you resort to using the race card? Unbelievable. That’s unbelievable to me.”

“I could care less. I could really care less,” he also said. “I agree with the speaker. Four people, four votes out of 240 people — who cares.”

“They’re missing the fact that we have a very thin margin of a majority that we’re operating under, and apparently it doesn’t matter to Justice Democrats, they just want to get skins,” Clay also said on Thursday. “They want to score points for whatever reason. But I find it juvenile, their tactics. I find their ignorance to be beyond belief about American history and about who are really segregationists. And so how dare they try to play the race card at this point. It shows you the weakness of their arguments.”

Clay is being primaried by the organization that produced AOC, Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-Minn.), Rep. Ayanna Pressley (D-Mass.), and Rep. Rashida Tlaib (D-Mich.) — the so-called justice Democrats. There’s no doubt he was taking some frustration out against her for that, too.

Amid a heated discussion about funding for the humanitarian crisis at the border and the treatment of illegal immigrants, AOC “threw gasoline on the fire,” as Fox News put it, when she told The Washington Post last week that the “persistent singling out” of certain Dems by the speaker was “outright disrespectful” and that it affected “newly elected women of color.”

That, in turn, prompted Lacy Clay — a senior member of the Congressional Black Caucus — to accuse Ocasio-Cortez of playing “the race card,” a charge the young progressive denied on Friday.

Even Rep. John Lewis (D-Ga.) got involved — blasting AOC as well.

He said Thursday that Ocasio-Cortez’s remarks went “a little too far.”

“We all must work together, pull together for the country’s good,” said Lewis, as The New York Post reported. “The great majority of the caucus membership tends to work together and get along. We need to go forward, not backward.”

The media have given “the squad” way too much coverage, making them think they have power.

If it were not for Twitter, they would still be unknowns.

All they seem to do is rant and rave, in my opinion. They should rethink their name. Maybe it should be “mean girls”?

As I’ve said before, Democrats have no one to blame for the situation with Ocasio-Cortez except themselves.

The first time she made ignorant comments and was called out for them, Democrats rallied ’round to defend her — rather than doing what they should have done and chastised her.

They have now created a monster.

Good luck.

But Democrats are going to lose the next election badly.
