President Biden and his team has been in “regular contact” with President Obama on “a variety of issues,” White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki said to reporters on Monday.
A journalist asked Psaki if and how routinely did President Biden consult with Obama since taking office. Psaki responded that Biden and Obama are friends and have talked several times. She also admitted that Biden expects to keep consulting with President Obama on healthcare.
“Given President Obama’s work on healthcare and President Biden’s commitment to increasing access to healthcare, I expect it’s a topic they’ll talk about,” Psaki said.
The reporter then asked how many times Obama and Biden have talked since January 20.
“I don’t have the exact number,” Psaki responded. “They stay in touch and our teams are in routine contact about a range of topics.”
Prior to Biden taking office, Obama claimed former President Trump did “real damage” to parts of his policy achievements.
“I have watched those areas where Trump tried to inflict serious damage and it’s more like a short-term setback versus our long-term success” Obama said.
He went on to say that President Biden now has the ability to repair the damage and “keep going.”
