Republican Georgia Congresswoman Marjorie Taylor Greene has proposed a bill Thursday morning that will end the ATF if it passes into law.
The legislation is called the “Brian A. Terry Eliminate the ATF Act.”
The bill is named after Brian Terry, a Border Agent who was killed after a group of armed men tried to rob smugglers who were moving drugs from Mexico to the United States.
Terry was a part of a top Border Patrol unit and was working in Obama’s “Fast and Furious” operation, which allowed federal officials to allow known criminals to buy weapons to track their movement to other criminal organizations.
The bill’s cosponsors include Republicans Ralph Norman, Paul Gosar and Matt Gaetz.
“Biden and the anti-gun Democrats seek to unleash the ATF against law-abiding citizens, attacking our God-given right to self-defense. The ATF’s continuing unconstitutional attacks against the Second Amendment must stop., Greene told reporters before proposing the legislation.
“Over ten years ago, under the leadership of liberal Eric Holder, the ATF gave guns to drug cartels who then used those guns to kill Brian Terry. This should NEVER be allowed to happen again. Biden’s nomination of gun-grabbing extremist David Chipman, who wants to confiscate the top rifle in America, is a clear sign that the ATF’s war against gun owners is only just starting and will soon get worst., she said.
“I’m proposing this bill to end the ATF to guard ALL gun owners across this nation from a power hungry group of extremists who want to destroy our Second Amendment freedoms., Greene added.
Aaron Dorr, the Director of the American Firearms Association group defended the lawmaker’s bill, saying that ending the ATF is long past-due.
“The ATF has been a disaster even before operation Fast and Furious. These days, they are there solely to attack gun rights and gun owners who defend that right. It’s time this agency was ended, before they do more damage to our freedoms., Dorr said.
