Top Columnist Under Fire After Comparing Trump Supporters To ISIS

A Boston Globe opinion columnist was slammed for comparing supporters of President Trump to ISIS terrorists.

“See the difference? Me neither,” Renée Graham tweeted on Saturday, accompanied by a photo of cars flying “Trump 2020” flags and a photo of ISIS militants holding weapons in a caravan of trucks.

Graham’s tweet was labeled “insane,” with some critics saying it’s an example of “Trump derangement syndrome.”

“Then seek urgent psychological help, you insane imbecile. Islamic State tortured, raped & killed thousands. They beheaded children & burnt women alive. The people on the Left voted for the president who destroyed the caliphate,” columnist Rita Panahi responded.

The Trump administration has faced similar criticisms from those in the media and Democrats who have compared the president to Nazi leader Adolf Hitler.

Earlier this year, MSNBC’s Donny Deutsch told Jewish Trump supporters to “wake up” as there “is no difference from what Donald Trump is preaching from what Adolf Hitler preached.”

“How dare you?” Deutsch said. “How dare you, with what our people have gone through in history and you see a man who is a dictator? And once you give a man absolute power, he is possible of anything. And if you are a Jew in this country and you are supporting Donald Trump, you are not looking back at our history. And you are blind, and you are walking like a lemming off a cliff.”

“It is time to wake up. I’m sorry, this is where we are! There is no difference from what Donald Trump is preaching from what Adolf Hitler preached in the early 30s. Let’s just say it, once and for all,” he said.

Additionally, House Whip James Clyburn and Rep. Jerry Nadler both compared Trump to the Nazi regime last year.

“Adolf Hitler was elected chancellor of Germany. And he went about the business of discrediting institutions to the point that people bought into” it,” Clyburn said. “Nobody would have believed it now. But swastikas hung in churches throughout Germany. We had better be very careful.”

Nadler also said in 2019: “You’ve heard the president and the administration say that immigrants are thieves, that they bring in drugs, that they’re responsible for lots of crime, that they’re — a crisis at our border, they’re bringing in drugs and crime.”

“This is the same type of propaganda that we heard in the 1920s and World War I against Jews. ‘Jews are Bolsheviks. Jews are thieves. Jews are violent’ — that was the propaganda. And, we were that against the Irish early. Now, we’re hearing it against this generation’s immigrants — and it’s just as false now,” he added.
