Republican Congressman Matt Gaetz (FL) introduced a new “Stand Your Ground” law this week to guard Americans’ ability to defend their homes, families and themselves if they ever come under attack.
WFLA reports Gaetz put out a media release on the law, saying, “Like Kyle Rittenhouse, all American citizens have the right to defend their lives from an attacker. If someone attempts to kill you, you should have the ability to preserve your life. Let’s restate in law what exists in the American Constitution and in the hearts of Americans. Remove the legal duty of retreat anywhere and everywhere.”
Gaetz’s legislation, the Stand Your Ground Act of 2021, states that:
“An American is justified in threatening, using or trying to use deadly force if the person reasonably believes that threatening, or trying to use this force is needed to stop an imminent death or possible bodily harm to herself or himself or another person to stop the imminent act of a felony. A person who threatens, uses, or attempts to use the deadly force in line with this text does not have the duty to retreat and has the right to stand his or her ground if that person threatening, using or tries to use the deadly force is not committing a criminal activity and is in a location where he or she has a right to be.”
The legislation is written based on Florida’s “Stand Your Ground” law.
WFLA says that Gaetz’s push is joined by “Louie Gohmert (GOP-TX), Paul Gosar (GOP-AZ), Marjorie Taylor Greene (GOP-GA), Markwayne Mullin (GOP-OK), Greg Steube (GOP-FL), and Randy Weber (GOP-TX).”
This comes at a time when Democrats are actively seeking every opportunity they can to disarm the American people. By using such anti-white conspiracies as “white supremacist terrorism,” they have set out to target as many conservatives and especially Trump supporters for disarmament. This is as they ignore Antifa violence from coast to coast, which many times involves violence against children and police officers.
America must have stand your ground laws to encourage people to protect themselves, otherwise criminals will feel emboldened. Maybe that’s what Democrats want?
